Sharer Rewards Terms

Last updated · July 16, 2026

These terms describe how Shareathon's payout split works, how the Share Fund referral share is earned between groups, and how the optional gift-card thank-you for top sharers works.

Draft — pending attorney review

1. The 80/10/10 split

Every campaign on Shareathon (operated by Hogwild Fundraising LLC, "Shareathon," "we," "us") uses one split, every time: 80% goes to the cause or organization running the campaign, 10% goes to the Share Fund, and 10% goes to Shareathon to operate hosting, support, and payouts.

2. The 10% Share Fund

The Share Fund is a group-to-group referral share. When an organization is invited onto Shareathon by another organization, the Share Fund portion of that organization's campaign donations is credited to the inviting organization, for as long as the inviting organization remains active on the platform. Attribution is one level only: an organization earns from the groups it invited directly, not from groups those groups later invite. Where a campaign's organization has no eligible inviting organization, the Share Fund portion remains in the pool.

No individual receives a personal percentage of their own campaign's donations. Campaign admins, sponsors, students, and other participants do not earn a cut of the campaigns they run or share. The Share Fund is paid to organizations, not to people.

3. The optional gift-card thank-you

Campaign admins may switch on a gift-card thank-you for participants while creating a campaign. Once selected, the choice locks when the campaign is published and cannot be changed for that campaign. When it is on, any participant who raises $500 in verified donations through their own personal share link earns a $20 digital gift card, repeating at every $500 tier.

Shareathon (Hogwild Fundraising LLC) funds these gift cards in full. They cost the campaign's organization nothing and are never deducted from the 80% the organization keeps. The gift card is a referral thank-you from Shareathon to the person whose personal share link drove the donations — it is not a prize, employee compensation, peer-to-peer gift, or something a donor purchases or solicits.

4. Card processing at checkout

Donors cover the card-processing fee at checkout, added transparently on top of their gift (for example, "$50 gift + $1.75 processing = $51.75"). This keeps the campaign's 80% whole and is how most modern giving platforms handle processing.

5. Refunds and chargebacks

Donations are refundable and may be reversed via chargeback. When a refund or chargeback occurs after a payout has been calculated or made, the reversal is deducted from the relevant balances, and any gift-card eligibility tied to the reversed donation is recalculated accordingly.

6. Anti-abuse

The gift-card thank-you is designed to reward genuine sharing that drives genuine donations. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation, self-donating to trigger a gift card, coordinated rings designed to farm gift cards, and using bots or automation to simulate donations or shares. See our Acceptable Use Policy for the full list. We may withhold, delay, or forfeit gift-card eligibility, and suspend or close accounts, on reasonable suspicion of abuse.

7. Payouts, taxes, and reporting

Campaign proceeds and Share Fund referral shares are delivered to the applicable connected bank account through Stripe, subject to the minimum payout threshold disclosed in-app. Recipients are solely responsible for any taxes owed on amounts received. Where required by law, we will collect taxpayer information and issue applicable tax forms when payouts meet or exceed the applicable reporting threshold.

8. No fundraising guarantee

Nothing in these terms guarantees any particular level of donations, Share Fund earnings, or gift-card qualification. Actual results depend on how much a given campaign and its sharers raise.

9. Program changes

We may change this rewards program at any time, including the split percentages, gift-card thresholds and amounts, redemption details, and anti-abuse rules. Material changes will be disclosed in-app and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Relationship to other terms

These Sharer Rewards Terms supplement, and do not replace, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Refunds & Disputes policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Carrots & Rewards Terms. If there is a conflict on a topic specific to this program, these terms control for that topic.
